Want to Visit?
Tour Information
Wakefield Schools welcome all who wish to visit a K-12 setting where Redesign has changed the way education looks for staff and students. Before filling out the Tour Form please browse our site to research the initiatives and changes you would like to see on your visit. We would love to show you all that we have implemented school wide; however, we know that some of you might be more interested in Elementary or Secondary specific areas. We are very proud of the work that we have done and are excited to be sharing it with you.
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

*Important Tour Info
Our Building is a two-story building with no elevator. All elementary classrooms are on the ground level. Secondary classrooms exist on both the ground level and the upstairs level.

If you are interested in touring both the elementary and secondary we ask that you do not bring more than 8 people. If your tour will be focusing on specific grade levels (K-5/6-8/9-12) please do not bring more than 6 people. We believe that these tour guidelines will be the most beneficial for you as well as our staff and students.
Relationships
Elementary
Flight Crews
Small groups of students, mixed K-5, are learning life skills and building student relationships while working on strengthening our school community.
Secondary
Mentor Time
This time is focused on building relationships between teachers and students as well as student to student. Teachers participate in academic advising while encouraging their mixed 7-12 group of students to work on personal goal setting.
School Wide
Buddy Flight Crews
Once a month, mentor groups and flight crews come together to build K-12 relationships while also trying to focus on ways the school and community can interact with one another.
Life Skills
Elementary
Clubs
Students build student and teacher relationships through social learning and will be exposed to diverse topics to develop new passions.
Secondary
ZAP (Zeros Aren't Permitted)
Students with failing grades are required to meet daily, during WIN time, with their classroom teacher until grade is passing. This is to provide students the opportunity to be successful in their academics.
Trauma - Informed Practices
School Wide
As a school, we are in our second year of developing and practicing Trauma-Informed strategies. As a staff we are focusing on book studies for knowledge, staff resilience to combat burn-out and using 2x10s to help support our students.
Rigor
School Wide
Project Based Learning / Problem Based Learning
Students will produce projects that involve rigor and a sense of connection to their school and community which will stem from a guiding question. They will learn and use content knowledge, practice critical thinking skills, show their creativity, and communicate with an authentic audience.
Engagement
Personalized Learning
Elementary
Student Engagement in their personal education and understanding the clear cut goals needed to support their personal learning goals.
Secondary
W.I.N. Time (What I Need)
Provides students time to prioritize their individual needs to make them successful students and citizens.
School Wide
Student Camps
Students meet once a month with their Flight Crew leader (Elem.) or their Mentor (Sec.) to discuss timely school issues. This gives the students a chance to voice their opinions, drive the change in our school and provide possible solutions to the identified school wide issues.
